Uluru’s Unique Experiences: From Camel Rides To Drone Shows

Uncover all the best experiences to enjoy while in Uluru!

Uluru is an exceptional place to visit when exploring Australia. This iconic landmark located in the heart of the Red Centre is a popular destination amongst many travellers. Most Uluru day tours will show you the highlights of this epic area in one full day.

However, if you have more time to explore, check out these unique Uluru experiences!

Stroll through the Field of Lights

Since being created in 2016, the Field of Lights has become a popular attraction in Uluru. The art installation covers the same amount of land as nine football fields. You’ll see the desert come to life as 50,000 solar-powered glass spheres light up the area.

This exhibition was originally supposed to be open until the end of 2020 but, due to its popularity, is now open indefinitely.

Immerse yourself in the Sounds of Silence

You may not be able to tell by its name, but the Sounds of Silence is a unique dining experience. The nightly event happens as you settle in with canapes and sparkling wine to watch the mesmerising sunset. Afterwards, you’ll be served a delicious three-course buffet!

The enchanting experience ends as an astronomer talks you through the night sky, teaching you about the constellations and galaxies above.

Segway around the base of Uluru

The Uluru Base Walk is one of the most popular hikes in the red centre. However, if you’re not into hiking, there are other ways to enjoy this scenic loop. It’s an easier way to explore the circumference of Uluru when it’s too hot to hike the 10 kilometre trail.

Join a segway tour for a unique way to explore the monolith!

Enjoy a desert camel ride

Another unique experience in Uluru is to take a camel ride. You can do so at sunrise or sunset, both times offering incredible views. As you watch the sun rise or set above Uluru, you’ll be surrounded by the tranquil desert on a scenic camel ride.

View Uluru while skydiving

If you’re an adrenaline junkie, skydiving in Uluru is for you!

One of the most surreal ways to view the towering monolith is from high above. Your skydiving experience will take you 12,000 feet above the desert. Once you jump from the plane and glide across the sky with your parachute, take in the stunning views of Uluru, Kata Tjuta and beyond.

Wintjiri Wiru drone show

Have a night to remember as you witness an incredible drone show in the skies above Uluru. You can enjoy a delicious, gourmet dinner hamper while viewing the show.

The choreographed drones, along with lasers and light projections, will light up the night sky to tell an Anangu story.

Take a dot art painting class

Learn about the cultural significance of Uluru while also learning about the Aboriginal art form of dot painting. When joining a dot painting workshop, you’ll gain insight into this form of art while creating your own masterpiece.
